Kristy. I decided to take up personal training with Leah after I took a challenge she issued us in a pump class.

Kristy beforeKristy afterLoving a challenge, I did just that; boy did it hurt! The pain went away but the idea that I wasn't challenging myself went through my mind. I organised regular training with Leah and in March 2003. For the first week, I was weighed and measured and I could not look in the mirror. I was horrified to find I was 118kg.

So every Tuesday I trained with Leah and it was tough, it still is! At first, I thought of why I wanted to do this; my initial thoughts were to improve my bad knees and to see if I could strengthen my lower back. I confess I was lying to myself because I knew I wanted to get my weight down and I knew deep down I needed a little help. During the first couple of weeks of training, Leah told me that I had to sort out the issues in my life because if I was not mentally fit I would never be able to control the physical aspects of me.

Today my priorities are different. I still want to have the challenge but I also recognise that I really want to lose more weight and achieve the goals I have always secretly wanted. Today I can proudly say I have lost 22 kilos and am still going. I am now buying smaller clothes and feel good about my health in general. PT has been a useful motivational tool, which I apply to my workouts in general, I can even do lunges now with substantial weights on my bar. Leah knows what I am going through with my PT because she does the same thing and she has been through the process of losing a lot of weight. I know this helps me remain motivated. I am grateful for all that PT has done for me and I know that in time I will achieve all of my goals.

Maria beforeMaria afterMARIA. Hi, my name is Maria. When I started at the North Adelaide Fitness Centre, I weighed 60 kg. I even went to Jenny Craig and tried their diet plan but felt I needed to do more. It took a lot of courage for me to join a gym. I remember walking in and saying to myself “I can't do this”.
After attending and enjoying a variety of classes I decided that I wanted to give myself a further challenge so I decided to link up with James to do Personal Training. After my complimentary session I was hooked, Since then I haven't looked back.
Yes, it is hard work - it's not easy. However, with ongoing motivation from an experienced, caring and knowledgeable trainer like James I have learned to push past my comfort zone to get better results and attain my goals. I am continually rewarded with improvements in my strength, fitness and confidence.
I would like to thank James my trainer for his commitment, time and all the laughs we have each session. He believes in me and I truly value that. Lately I have been receiving positive comments about my fitness level and my new physique - which is always a pleasant surprise.

BEN. On June 17th, a few days prior to my 71st Birthday I had my first Personal Training Session with Allene. At that time I weighed 93.8 Kilos, and was 35.5% body fat. In addition to being overweight I had an aching lower back and legs and a big stomach.
What then happened in the ensuing weeks was nothing less than amazing for me. The next thing I knew, one morning I woke up and there was no back pain and all the pains in my legs had ceased.
By December I weighed 86.3 Kilos and my body fat has dropped to 29.5%. It's great when friends I trust say “Wow, you look years younger”, “you are looking good”, or “'God', you lost weight”. Also it's a great feeling to go to my wardrobe and put on my comfortably fitting trousers – which a few months ago would not fit. Most of all, mentally and physically I feel stronger - and for me that is the essential part. I feel extremely lucky to have become associated with the North Adelaide Fitness Centre.
To Peter, his wonderful staff, and to Allene, I am forever grateful. A special thanks to Allene (my Personal Trainer) for all her efforts, encouragement and caring she has given me over these past few months.

Doreen Marks, age 54. When I turned 40 my weight problems began. I tried lots of diets but couldn't keep my weight off. I started having back problems and now I suffer from chronic back pain. My doctor told me to exercise and lose weight. I found it extremely hard and I became depressed.

The more I tried to lose weight, the more I failed. I joined N.A.F.C. and it changed my life. The staff were wonderful, they helped and encouraged me all the time.
I have lost 30 kg altogether, it has been a slow process but well worth it. My dress size has dropped from 24-26 to 16-18. My back has improved a lot and my bone density has increased and is now excellent. Thank you N.A.F.C. without you I wouldn't have achieved so much
